 World Book Day

We are looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2026. This year is extra special as 2026 is the National Year of Reading, promoting a love of books and reading for pleasure.

Children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character, in comfy reading clothes, or in pyjamas (with suitable school footwear; no slippers or open-toe sandals, please). We encourage families to get creative using items you already have at home.

During the week, pupils will enjoy a range of exciting reading activities, and our catering company, Olive Dining, will be serving a special themed menu on the day.

We cannot wait to celebrate the joy of reading together

Class Assemblies 2026

We are excited to invite parents and carers to our Year 3 class assemblies this term. These assemblies are a wonderful opportunity for children to showcase their learning, share their work, and celebrate their achievements with the school community.

 Class Assembly Dates:

School Priorities 2025

Please take a moment to view this year’s School Priorities. These have been shaped by feedback from our whole school community — including parents.

Your views are invaluable in helping us move forward together, please share your feedback with us.

Change of School Catering Provider – from 5th January 2026

From Monday 5th January 2026, our school meals will be provided by Olive Dining, replacing Wilson Jones. We want to remind parents of how the system currently works and highlight what will change:

  • Automatic meal booking: All children are automatically booked a school meal (this has been in place since September).
  • Meal selection: Pupils will choose their meal at the counter—no need to select a meal preference on Scopay.
  • Packed lunches: If your child prefers to bring a packed lunch from home, no Scopay selection is required.

Uniform

As the youngest children of Key Stage 2, Year 3 pupils are encouraged to take pride in their appearance and set a good example to others by following the school’s uniform expectations.

Please note:

  • Only stud earrings are permitted (no other jewellery, except the Sikh Kara).
  • Smart watches and large hair bows are not allowed.
  • On PE days, stud earrings should be removed and a sweatband must be worn over a Kara.
  • Long hair should be tied back or plaited for health and safety reasons.

For full uniform and PE kit guidelines, please click here.

Thank you for your continued support.

Home Learning

Reading

Daily reading is a key part of your child’s learning. Please support us by encouraging your child to read daily and establish a regular routine at home, including limiting screen time and online gaming during the school week.

We provide time during the school day for children to change their books as they finish them, helping them develop independence. It would be helpful to remind your child to bring their book to school each day.

Homework

Year 3 homework will include daily reading and spelling practice.

Weekly tasks will include either Writing or Grammar/Punctuation. In addition, there will be a Mathematics activity based on the learning covered throughout the week. Some weeks we will also include Foundation subject-related homework or Science, which will replace the English task.

All homework will be set on a Friday. This should be completed and brought into school by the following Friday.
