Art at Marlborough

Artist of the Month

At Marlborough, we believe that every child is an artist with their own unique creativity to share. Our monthly Art Competition is a celebration of creativity, inspiration, and imagination. Each month we focus on a different artist, exploring their style, techniques, and influence before challenging our pupils to create their own masterpieces.

Winning entries will be showcased here on our website, alongside a gallery of all the fantastic artwork submitted. We are proud to celebrate the talents of our young artists and look forward to sharing their creativity with the whole school community.

- October 2025

This October we are celebrating the Nigerian artist Chike Obeagu, known for his expressive mixed-media paintings that often combine paint with collage and found materials. His work is full of texture, bold mark-making and storytelling — perfect inspiration for experimenting with layers and colour.  Children are invited to take inspiration from Obeagu’s work and create their own original piece.

Whether you are a confident artist or just starting out, we encourage everyone to take part and have fun experimenting. Every entry will be displayed online, so all pupils’ creativity is celebrated.

How to enter: Please hand your finished artwork to Mrs Perez-Diaz in Violet Class by Monday 3rd November. Don’t forget to put your name and class on the back of your work.

- September’s Artist of the Month — David Hockney

Last month, our pupils took inspiration from David Hockney, exploring his bold use of colour, striking landscapes, and inventive techniques. We were amazed by the creativity shown across the school — from vibrant swimming pool scenes to colourful Yorkshire-inspired countryside pieces.

Congratulations to our September Winner:
